School Tours
School tours are offered during September and October.
Apple season tours run through the month of September and into October. The children will take a hay ride around the farm and through the orchard. Because of the April freeze there are no apples to pick, but they will be given apples to take home. Next, they will see apple butter being made and taste a sample. Then, our bee keeper shows them how we take care of bees and they can watch bees at work in an observation hive. They can also feed the animals and see a direct descendant of the last surviving tree planted by Johnny Appleseed.
During October, our "Pumpkin Fantasyland" is a big hit with children. There are full sized figures of farm, movie, children's story, and other characters. There are no horror scenes. The children will take a hayride to the pumpkin field and pick a small pumpkin. The rest of the tour is the same as in apple season, except the tour will not visit the apple grading room.
We can not do combination apple and pumpkin tours.
A guide will go with each group to explain things and answer questions. Our tours are educational as well as fun.
Tours can be scheduled on weekdays on the half hour from 9:00 to 3:30. Allow enough time to reach the farm and one hour for the tour. Home school and play groups will be scheduled only after 11:00. To schedule tours, please call us at (636) 228-4338. A deck and shaded lawn are available for your use if you want to bring lunches.
The cost is $4.00 per child, with a minimum charge of $40 for groups under 10. Parents and teachers are not charged, but we do need to know how many will be coming.
If you would like to bring your class to a quiet place in the country for a fun and educational trip, please visit Centennial Farms this year.
